Two months ago I made a video that argued the term JRPG is often used in a racist way to discriminate against computer RPGs made by the Japanese. A lot of people misunderstood what I was saying. This new video should better explain what my position on the matter is.

The short version: JRPG is not a genre term. It should only be used to describe the Japanese computer RPG industry, which is composed of many different types of computer rpgs (rogue-likes, action rpgs, strategy rpgs, MMORPGs, etc). But the label "WRPG" is absolutely stupid and meaningless, and really shouldn't be used at all. "The West" is not a country.

I'll be honest, the fact that "The West" is so fixated on using the same coats of paint when it comes to OGL (with a couple rare exceptions) is one of the main reasons I have such a miniscule collection of so-called "WRPGs". If they really want to insist on using OGL....fine; but i'd suggest (dead horse, I know) using cases like the Crafty Games, True20, Mutants & Masterminds, or Pathfinder.... games that have tried to fix 3.5's flaws in their own way.

Yeah, I own several PDFs of OGL games (I don't list the PDFs on my website; maybe I should?) like Mutants and Masterminds and FantasyCraft. These systems have a lot of improvements over 3.5 and would be interesting to see as a Computer rpg.

why can I not watch the video? Youtube blocks me. :(

@PornoPiet: I looked into this. Germany apparently doesn't want anyone to show pictures of the KKK, so even though my video is anti-hate groups, someone flagged the video as having content that shouldn't be shown in Germany.
